Our Philosophy

At Branson Horses, we believe in treating every horse as an individual and to ensure they have the best training, good manners and good habits possible.  As the legendary Tom Roberts said, "If you are fond of a horse and wish to do him a real favour, train him well. Teach him good manners, good habits, both in the stable and under saddle. You need never worry about the future of such a horse if for any reason you have to part with him. You assure him of friends wherever he goes. Perhaps the greatest kindness you can do any horse is to educate him well.”  This aptly sums up our philosophy for training and producing horses.

Any horse in our care - who is with us for training, or that we are producing for sale - is looked after and trained consistently to the highest standard in every aspect of their lives.  We will always check the horse physically (body condition, nutrition, feet, teeth, back, saddle and bridle fit) and assess where they are at in their work before commencing training.  Horses do ample groundwork with us to ensure ground manners and trust are established, and regular exercise and ridden work 5-6 days a week, depending on the horse.  Horses enjoy a variety of work and exposure to different situations and environments - any given week will combine flatwork, trail riding alone and in company, poles and showjumping, cross country and outings.  Being on a working farm they are also exposed to livestock, traffic and regular farm happenings on a daily basis.

We understand that buying horses can be a stressful process, and so we do our best to take that stress away by providing a clear, transparent buying process from start to finish.  We love our horses and care where they go, so we like people to come and try the horse out thoroughly, so there is no doubt as to whether it is a good fit for the rider and horse as a team before a sale is made. We encourage you to come and view our horses with support - please bring your parents/grandma/riding instructor etc. with you to view/try the horse. Vet checks are welcome.

Once horses are sold we will follow up with you to check they are settling in, and we are happy to provide you with any follow-up support if needed.  If there is a worse-case scenario and the horse doesn't suit you after purchase (which we hope would rarely happen given the thorough pre-purchase process we follow to ensure a good fit for you and the horse), then we are happy to take the horse back on a heavily discounted rate for sales preparation and re-homing.

If you are interested in sending your horse to us for training and schooling, it is treated as one of our own and as an individual.  We like to keep you regularly updated with photos and videos showing your horse's progress and explain how we are training them, to help you get where you want to be with your horse.

We charge $320 + GST a week (with a minimum of 2 weeks paid up front and non-refundable).  This includes schooling 5-6 days a week, an individual paddock for your horse, hard feed twice a day, unlimited top quality home-produced hay varieties to suit your horse, daily rugging/unrugging and any outings for training (although any competition fees will be at your expense).
